Sahasam

Chandra Sekhar Yeleti's 2013 Telugu film follows Gowtam, a security guard. He learns that his grandfather left a treasure on land he lived on before partition and decides to cross the border. The journey takes place in the desert. Srinidhi, travelling the same way, wants to visit a temple; the two are forced to go on together and the narrative follows the adventure form. Gopichand and Taapsee Pannu lead. The desert photography takes wide space and the action sequences carry the film's weight. The narrative keeps the history of partition in the background and does not enter the political question. Who it's for: those who like Telugu adventure films. Who it's not for: viewers expecting partition treated seriously; the film uses it only as a base for its plot.
