What Saint Ralph Is About
Hamilton, Ontario, 1954. Ralph, a ninth grader, is living alone at home while his mother lies in a coma in hospital, and he tells nobody. Convinced that a miracle would wake her, he picks his own miracle: winning the Boston Marathon. A young priest at his Catholic school, a former runner himself, agrees to coach him. The film neither mocks the boy's faith nor blesses it, standing somewhere between the two and growing sadder as it goes. Our keywords say based on a true story, but the story is invented.
