Salaam Venky

The film rests on a true story. At the centre of the account is a young man called Venkatesh. Venky has muscular dystrophy. The disease is progressive and has no cure. His muscles lose their function over time. His mother Sujata is beside him. She has taken on his care. Venky plays chess and holds on to life. He has one wish. He wants to donate his organs. But there is a legal obstacle in the way. A struggle begins for the right to die with dignity. A doctor, a lawyer and a journalist stand with him. The film was adapted from a book. Kajol and Vishal Jethwa take the leads in Revathi’s Indian film of 2022.
