Santa & Andres

The film is set in Cuba. The time is the early nineteen eighties. The place is a small village in the east. Andrés is a writer and is under house arrest. The authorities consider him untrustworthy. The reason is both his ideas and his being gay. Santa is a peasant woman loyal to the revolution. She is given the task of watching Andrés. The woman settles down in front of the house and waits. At first there is a wide distance between them. In time one word leads to another. Both of them have known loss before. They know what isolation is. Even so the gulf between them is deep. Lola Amores and Eduardo Martinez take the leads in Carlos Lechuga’s Colombian, Cuban and French coproduction of 2016.
