Hidden Figures

Theodore Melfi's 2016 film follows three Black women mathematicians working at NASA in the early sixties. As the space race runs, they do their calculations by hand. Segregation is in force in the same building. The film gives the technical work and the everyday obstacles together; the narrative shows the institution did not change by itself and follows the three women on separate lines. Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monáe lead. It rests on real people, and some scenes were combined for dramatic effect, which was argued over.
