Sex Drive

Eighteen-year-old Ian Lafferty drives from Illinois to Tennessee to meet a girl he knows from the internet. He takes his brother's car without asking: a 1969 Pontiac GTO. His friends Lance and Felicia come along. Sean Anders directed, from Andy Behrens's novel. Josh Zuckerman plays Ian, Amanda Crew plays Felicia and Clark Duke plays Lance, with Seth Green and James Marsden in the cast. On the way they run into an Amish community during Rumspringa. The film ends with Ian and Felicia together and Lance staying behind to marry an Amish girl. Reviews were mixed. Rotten Tomatoes sits at 46 percent, with critics noting some hilarious moments and limited appeal. Roger Ebert gave it two stars out of four, saying it had some laughs and was excessively raunchy. Owen Gleiberman in Entertainment Weekly singled out Seth Green's performance. The box office failed: 18.8 million dollars worldwide against a 19 million budget. It recovered around 10 million more in home media. Who it is for: viewers who like crude teen comedies of the 2000s. Who it is not for: anyone watching by current standards. A lot of the jokes are built on sex and bodies and have not aged well.
