An old man brings his grandson to the city, to a doctor. The diagnosis given to the boy is grave: cancer. What stands in front of the illness is an obstacle that cannot be got over. The grandfather has both to carry that news and to keep it from the child for a while. He spends the time that is left showing him what life looks like. The film tells the illness not as a medical process but as something handed on between two generations. The account does not ask for pity; it shows the weight on the one who has to decide. The work rests on something that actually happened. The hundred and seven minutes are compressed into a few days. Arun Nalawade and Ashwin Chitale appear in Sandeep Sawant’s Indian film, completed in 2004.
