Sing Your Song

The documentary is about Harry Belafonte. He became known as a singer. What he did on stage reached a very wide audience. The film is after something else. Belafonte was inside the civil rights movement. He was not only a supporter of it. He took a leading part in the organising. Leading figures of the movement were in his circle. In later years he carried the work into other areas. He took up questions of social justice worldwide. The film runs on archive footage, with Belafonte telling it himself. Sidney Poitier and Julian Bond appear in it as well. Susanne Rostock directed the hundred and three minute documentary, an American production finished in 2012.
