Slow was director Marija Kavtaradzė's second feature after "Summer Survivors," following dancer Elena and sign language interpreter Dovydas as they work out what intimacy looks like after Dovydas reveals he's asexual. It had its world premiere on January 22, 2023, and won the World Cinema Dramatic Directing Award at Sundance; it was selected as Lithuania's Oscar entry. Who it's for: anyone drawn to award winning European dramas that treat asexuality from inside a real relationship rather than through cliché. Who it's not for: viewers wanting a conventional love story built around sex as the center of a relationship, since the film redefines what intimacy means.
