What Slumming Is About

In Vienna two well-off, bored young men, Sebastian and his friend, spend their nights in bars playing tricks on drunks and on people who cannot defend themselves; what they call a joke is really humiliation. One night they pick up Kallmann, an alcoholic poet, off the street, put him in the car and leave him on the far side of the Czech border. When Pia, a teacher Sebastian met online, learns of it, she sets out to find the man. The film watches both the prank and the rescue with the same coldness and clears nobody. Paulus Manker and August Diehl appear in Michael Glawogger’s hundred minute Austrian film; it was completed in 2006.
