Some Interviews on Personal Matters

Sofiko is a well known journalist. She lives in Georgia and the years are the seventies. Her work is talking to people about personal matters. She interviews women in particular. She is good at listening to them and at giving advice. At home she cannot manage the same closeness. One day she learns that her husband is involved with another woman. The news shakes her deeply. But life leaves her no time to attend to her own trouble. Work, children and other people’s stories keep coming in between. The film also goes into something rarely spoken of in the Soviet period. What happened to those deported to Siberia seeps into the story. The director’s own mother had been sent into exile. It is counted among the first feminist films of Soviet cinema. Sofiko Chiaureli and Gia Badridze appear in the ninety five minute film, a Soviet production Lana Goghoberidze finished in 1978.
