What Someone to Run With Is About
Oded Davidoff’s 2006 film adapts David Grossman’s novel and takes place in the streets of Jerusalem. Tamar is a gifted, withdrawn girl who leaves home and changes her appearance and her manner beyond recognition in order to reach someone she loves. Asaf is a shy boy with a dull summer job at City Hall, handed the task of taking a stray dog from the pound and following it back to its owner so a fine can be issued. The dog leads him into Tamar’s trail instead, and the further he follows it the clearer it becomes that she is in real danger. It was nominated in twelve categories at the Israeli Film Academy awards.
