What Something, Anything Is About
In the American South a newly married woman’s plans for a settled household are scattered by a disaster. She gradually enters a spiritual search; it is a quiet transformation, one she announces to nobody. But precisely because it is silent it unsettles those around her and shakes her closest relationships. The film does not describe the content of the search; it looks at the empty space the searcher creates around herself. The account builds no large scenes and moves through daily errands, letters and silences. What she is looking for is something she cannot quite say herself either. Ashley Shelton and Bryce Johnson appear in Paul Harrill’s eighty eight minute American film, completed in 2015.
