Something in the Air

The film is set in Brazil. The account starts out from real events. At its centre are four friends. All four live in a poor neighbourhood. One day they make a decision. They will set up their own radio station. The station will be called Rádio Favela. They have no licence to broadcast. So what they build is a pirate station. What they want is to give the neighbourhood a voice. Complaints nobody listens to go out on air. As the thing grows so does the pressure. The station becomes a centre for the neighbourhood. Babu Santana and Adolfo Moura take the leads, with Benjamim Abras also in the cast, in Helvécio Ratton’s Brazilian film of 2002.
