Srikanth

Tushar Hiranandani's 2024 Indian film rests on the life of a blind entrepreneur. Srikanth Bolla was born in a village; his family considered giving up on him, schools did not want to take him and he had to go to court to be admitted to the science stream. After studying in America he returned to India and founded a manufacturing company employing disabled workers. The film presents that journey as an inspiring story while trying not to show him as flawless, and the ambition and broken relationships that come as the company grows occupy its second half. Rajkummar Rao worked with blind people for the role. The tone is emotional and the ending openly aims for it. Who it's for: viewers who like biography based on true events. Who it's not for: anyone critical of how disability is handled on screen; the film reaches for familiar patterns.
