Step Up All In

The fifth and final film in the series gathers characters from earlier entries in Las Vegas. Sean Asa puts together a new crew called LMNTRIX and enters a competition called The Vortex, where the prize is a three-year Vegas booking. Ryan Guzman plays Sean and Briana Evigan returns as Andie West. Adam Sevani is back as Moose and Stephen tWitch Boss plays Jason. Trish Sie directed. The idea is a series finale: put dancers from different films on the same stage. That gives the choreography a rich base while overcrowding the story with characters. On a 35 million dollar budget it grossed 86.1 million worldwide, the lowest total in the franchise. Reviews split. The Rotten Tomatoes consensus is blunt about slick choreography interrupted by weak narrative elements. It runs 112 minutes and was distributed by Summit Entertainment. Who it is for: viewers who have followed the series and love ensemble choreography. Who it is not for: anyone starting here. The film leans on knowledge of the earlier entries and means little on its own.
