What Steptoe & Son Ride Again Is About
Albert and his son Harold are rag-and-bone men who work the streets with a horse and cart and live together in the same junk yard. Trying to improve their position, Harold puts his father's entire savings into a greyhound. The dog turns out to be nearly blind and cannot see the hare, and the money is gone. To cover the debt Harold has another idea: collect on his father's life insurance. Which requires his father to be dead. This is the second feature spun out of one of the most watched sitcoms on British television, with Wilfrid Brambell and Harry H. Corbett in the same parts. As on the show, what you laugh at is pain: the two men cannot stand each other and cannot leave, because neither has anywhere else to go.
