The bank robber Zeki Müller gets out of prison and goes to collect the money he buried. The problem is that the school has built its new gymnasium on top of it. Trying to get in as a janitor, he is hired by mistake as a substitute teacher and lands the worst class in the building. Bora Dağtekin directed. Three million people saw it within seventeen days, the fastest any German film had got there that year. In total it took 7.3 million admissions and 55 million euros, making it the second-highest-grossing German film of all time. Two direct sequels followed in 2015 and 2017, with a fantasy spinoff in 2024. A Mexican remake, No manches Frida, arrived in 2016. It was released in the United States as Suck Me Shakespeer. Who it is for: viewers who like crude school comedy and are curious about German popular cinema. Who it is not for: anyone looking for subtlety. Much of the humour is stock and some of the jokes sit badly now.
