Sunny Dancer

George Jaques's 2026 British film follows Ivy, in remission after cancer treatment. Her parents send her to a summer camp for young people in similar circumstances. Ivy does not want to go. The film does not build recovery as a celebration; the narrative puts forward the emptiness that follows illness and the relationships the young people form, and avoids emotional exploitation. Bella Ramsey leads. The tone sits between comedy and drama. The production is small. Who it's for: viewers of British independent cinema and youth drama. Who it's not for: viewers for whom cancer and loss would be difficult.
