What Superboys of Malegaon Is About
Malegaon is a small town where people go to the cinema to get out from under the day. Nasir Shaikh is an amateur who loves films, works at a video hall, and one day decides to make his own. He has no money, no equipment and no actors. He rounds up his friends: all of them from the town, none of them professionals. They remake the big Bollywood pictures with what they have, in their own streets. What comes out is not an imitation but the town's own film. Reema Kagti directs, with Adarsh Gourav as Nasir. It comes from a real story; the amateur film crew of Malegaon had already been the subject of documentaries. It runs over two hours.
