Superman

As Krypton is destroyed a baby is sent to Earth. A farming family in Kansas raise him; as the boy grows he realises he has powers nobody else has. He goes to Metropolis, takes a job as a reporter at the Daily Planet, and turns into Superman when he has to. His first great enemy is the Spider Lady, running an operation under the city. This fifteen chapter Columbia serial, directed by Spencer Gordon Bennet and Thomas Carr together, is Superman's first live-action appearance on film. Because the budget was small the flying scenes were drawn as animation; when the hero takes off the image turns into a cartoon. Kirk Alyn plays Superman and Noel Neill plays Lois Lane. Apart from the first three chapters, every one of them breaks off in danger.
