Ma Dae-yun's 2023 Korean film follows a famous but irresponsible actor waking into another life on Christmas night. Park Kang finds himself a man married to his former girlfriend with two children; it is the life he did not choose but could have. The film follows a familiar template and holds no surprises; its value is showing that both lives are incomplete and refusing an easy lesson. Kwon Sang-woo's performance avoids excess. Oh Jung-se's manager carries the film's emotional weight. The story raises the emotional steering in the second half and the music thickens. Who it's for: viewers who like Korean family comedy and films set at the new year. Who it's not for: anyone wanting a story outside the template, or put off by emotional steering.
