What Take It or Leave It Is About
On a sleepy Saturday morning, Erik, a thirty-year-old construction worker, gets news that changes his life: Moonika, an ex-girlfriend he has not seen in six months, is about to give birth. She is not ready to be a mother, and if Erik does not want the child either the baby will be given up for adoption. Liina Triškina-Vanhatalo’s film does not make a story of becoming a father out of this; it watches a man take on something he is not ready for, and how he has to rearrange his work, his friends and his own family around that decision. The narration offers no emotional resolutions and stays with the weight of the ordinary. Reimo Sagor plays Erik. The Estonian production runs a hundred and two minutes and dates from 2018.
