Tatar Ramazan

Tatar Ramazan shoots the son of Abidin Ağa in a fight that starts over land, and goes to prison. When he has served his sentence he comes back to the town with Zeynep, his betrothed. But the account is not settled: the landowner's other son squares up to him. Ramazan goes inside once more, and this time he has to deal with the prison's own order. Kadir İnanır takes the lead in Melih Gülgen's film. The story comes from Kerim Korcan's book of the same name and has been brought to the screen several times in Turkish cinema. The telling shows the prison as the outside order in miniature: there too there is a boss, there are the trodden down, there is a code. Ramazan is a man who chose his side from the start.
