Teesri Kasam

Hiraman drives a bullock cart. One day he came close to being caught carrying contraband. After that he made himself a promise. He would never help a black marketeer again. He lost his cart over that incident. He barely got his oxen away. In time he saved enough for another cart. Then a new job came along. He was to take a woman on a long ride to a fair. The journey took hours. The woman’s name was Hirabai. Hiraman became attached to her. Hirabai worked in a travelling performance troupe. At the fair he saw how people looked at her. The film is adapted from a story by Phanishwar Nath Renu. Raj Kapoor and Waheeda Rehman appear in the hundred and fifty nine minute film, an Indian production Basu Bhattacharya finished in 1966.
