What The Amazing Mr. Blunden Is About
Mr Blunden, an old and mysterious solicitor, calls on Mrs Allen and her children in their cramped Camden Town flat and makes her an offer she cannot turn down: to keep house at a derelict country mansion. There the children meet the ghosts of two other children who died in that house nearly a hundred years earlier. They mix a potion and travel back to the ghost children's time. Lionel Jeffries adapted the screenplay from Antonia Barber's 1969 novel The Ghosts and directed it himself. Elmer Bernstein wrote the score. Diana Dors plays the housekeeper, Mrs Wickens. It is a children's film that is not afraid to frighten and talks about death without flinching.
