Stand by Me Doraemon 2

A Japanese animated film. Nobita is a boy who fails at school, is clumsy and constantly needs help. With him is Doraemon, a robot cat from the future who finds a solution to every problem with the devices he pulls from his pocket. The narrative opens with a memory. Nobita misses the grandmother who died when he was very small and wants to see her once more. They go back with the time machine. His grandmother recognises him and asks for one thing: to see her grandson's bride. Nobita then goes to the future. He arrives on his own wedding day and a problem appears there: the adult Nobita has disappeared. From there the film moves back and forth through time several times. The boy has to take his own place and tries to understand why his adult self ran. The matter at the centre is self-belief: the grown man thinks he does not deserve the marriage, and the thought comes from his childhood. It was made in three-dimensional computer animation, unlike the usual drawing style of the series. Takashi Yamazaki and Ryuichi Yagi directed. It is the sequel to an earlier film and was a large box office success in Japan. An emotional choice for anyone who likes family animation and the Doraemon series. For a viewer who does not know the series, the film introduces no characters and keeps its emotional dose high.
