What The Astronaut Is About
Jim, an aeronautical engineer, is building his own rocket without telling the company he has worked at for years: collecting parts one at a time, doing the calculations at home, planning to make a manned flight as an amateur. He shares the dream with nobody, until he understands he cannot do it alone. Nicolas Giraud directs and stars, and keeps the film away from spectacle; even the rocket scenes stay small and quiet. The subject is not space but a man having to open to other people something he had kept to himself. Mathieu Kassovitz is in the cast.
