The Bad Intentions

A young girl fixes an idea in her head: she will die on the day her brother is born. That belief begins to govern everything she does. The household does not quite know what the child is thinking. She behaves as though preparing for her own death and keeps everyone at a distance. The film shows a child’s jealousy not as something endearing but as a serious fear. A child’s fear of losing her own place is the real subject. The account never leaves the child’s point of view. The hundred and ten minutes are given to that waiting. Fatima Buntinx and Katerina D’Onofrio appear in Rosario Garcia-Montero’s film, a joint Argentine, German and Peruvian production, completed in 2011.
