What The Betrayal Is About

The film takes place during the Algerian war. The time is March 1960, during Ramadan. Lieutenant Roque commands a post in the southeast. French soldiers serve under him. Among them are four young Muslim men. They enlisted in the army themselves. They translate from Arabic into French. Where they stand is between the two sides. They are bound both to their own people and to the uniform. At the post the days pass heavily. Houses are burned, villages are cleared, torture is carried out. A relationship forms between Roque and a young soldier named Taïeb. That relationship brings out the contradiction of the war. The film was adapted from a real account. Vincent Martinez and Ahmed Berrhama appear in the eighty minute film, a French production Philippe Faucon finished in 2005.
