The Business of Fancydancing

Seymour Polatkin is a well known poet. He is Spokane and he is gay. He left the reservation years ago. He made a place for himself in the city. His books were read and his name got about. His ties to the community he left, though, were cut. One day news of a death arrives. A close friend of his has died. Seymour returns for the funeral to where he grew up. The return puts him in front of his old friends. Some of them do not welcome him. He has to face the past he left behind. Seymour is both of that place and outside it. The film moves along interwoven with poetry and music. Evan Adams and Michelle St. John appear in the hundred and three minute film, an American production Sherman Alexie finished in 2002.
