What The Confidence Man JP - The Movie - Is About
Dako, Boku-chan and Richard are con artists, and the people they take are always the greedy ones. This time the job is in Hong Kong, where there is a large fortune and a set of people determined to keep hold of it. The team works its way inside through one identity after another, the plan unfolds in layers, and who is running whom stays unclear until very late. It is the feature version of a hit Japanese television series, and it plays fine for anyone who has not seen the show, because the machinery is rebuilt from scratch each time. Akira Tanaka runs it on speed and disguise, with Masami Nagasawa at the centre of every trick. It has no interest in being taken seriously; it is enjoying a well-built trap.
