What The Crimes That Bind Is About
Michiko Oshitani, who lived in Shiga Prefecture, is found strangled in a Tokyo apartment. Mutsuo Koshikawa, who owns the apartment, has disappeared. No connection between the two names can be found. Near the body there is a piece of paper listing the twelve bridges around Nihonbashi, and when detective Kyoichiro Kaga sees that list he is shaken, because it has to do with his own mother. Katsuo Fukuzawa adapted the film from Keigo Higashino's Kaga novels, with Hiroshi Abe as Kaga. While the murder is being solved, what is actually being told is what an abandoned child never knew about his mother. The detective story here is the shell around a family one.
