Hiroshi Abe's name appears in the official award record of the Asian Film Awards Academy with the Excellence in Asian Cinema award of the 16th ceremony; the record ties that award straight to the person, with no film beside it. The same title had gone to Lee Byung-hun at the 15th ceremony and to Koji Yakusho at the 13th. Hirokazu Kore-eda directed two of the twenty-one he has here, Still Walking and After the Storm, eight years apart.
