What The D.I. Is About
Jim Moore is one of the hardest drill instructors on Parris Island. In his platoon is a private who keeps getting things wrong under pressure: Owens. Moore believes there is a soldier inside him and goes at him for that reason. The pressure reaches a point where Owens thinks about deserting. Captain Anderson steps in and sets Moore a limit: three days. Either the private will be brought up to standard in that time or he will be shipped out. Meanwhile Moore has a relationship that has only just started. The film takes place almost entirely at the training camp. Jack Webb both directs and plays Moore in this American film of 1957.
