What The Delightful Forest Is About

Wu, a prisoner, is sent into exile and there becomes friends with Shih En, an officer at the prison. A local strongman named Chiang has taken Shih En’s restaurant from him by force, and Wu helps his friend in the fight against him. What follows is the story of how a debt gets paid and of where the fighting fails to stop. The film comes from the Shaw Brothers martial arts cinema of the seventies; the fights are unadorned, hard, and shown with their consequences. Ti Lung plays the lead in the ninety two minute Hong Kong film by Chang Cheh and Pao Hsueh-Li, completed in 1972.
