What The Devil Thumbs a Ride Is About

Steve Morgan kills a man during a holdup and thumbs a ride toward Los Angeles with Fergie. They pick up two women at a gas station, and when they run into a police roadblock Morgan takes charge and talks the party into spending the night at an empty beach house. As the police close in, one by one the others work out who they are travelling with. Felix E. Feist’s sixty two minute noir rests entirely on the coldness of Lawrence Tierney. Short, narrow and airless, a B picture with no hesitation about putting the villain at the centre.
