What The Divine Move 2: The Wrathful Is About
In the nineties, when Korea was gripped by Go played for money, Gui-su loses everything because his father cannot stop gambling. Left completely alone, he meets a master called Il-do, goes through a brutal apprenticeship and becomes formidable at the board. Then he sets out to collect from the world that ruined him, and finds someone else on his trail with a reckoning of their own. It is not a straight continuation of the first film so much as a rebuild of the same world around a new character. Khan Lee shoots the board like a fight scene, with the stones and the punches falling in the same rhythm. Kwon Sang-woo leads it. The revenge shape is familiar, but the tension it builds at the board is genuine.
