The Dull-Ice Flower

Ku Ah-ming is a fourth grade pupil. His school is in a township in Taiwan. He does poorly in his lessons. But in drawing he is another boy. His imagination is wide and he draws in his own way. Most of the teachers do not understand what he is saying in his pictures. A new art teacher comes to the school. His name is Kuo. The teacher starts an art club. Ah-ming is the first boy to volunteer. Then a competition is announced. A pupil is to be chosen to represent the school. The teachers hold a vote. The one chosen is the mayor’s son. The account comes from the novel by Chung Chao-cheng. Wong Kwan-Yuen and Lee Suk-Ching take the leads in Yang Li-kuo’s Taiwanese film of 1989.
