The Enemy Within

Kostas keeps a flower shop in one of the outer districts of the city. He is a man who likes to read. He reads books on society and politics. He argues them at length with the local publican. He believes he stands against violence. One night masked men come into his house. They tie up his family. They rape his teenage daughter. After that night everything Kostas thought is left hanging. He cannot stand behind what he used to defend. His neighbour, meanwhile, talks about weapons and protection. The man is paranoid and militarist. Kostas begins to listen to him. In the end he decides to take the law into his own hands. In doing that he begins to understand the world he has been living in. Manolis Mavromatakis and Maria Zorba appear in the hundred and seven minute film, a Greek production Yorgos Tsemberopoulos finished in 2013.
