What The Final Season Is About
Early nineties, Iowa. The high school in the town of Norway is about to close, the school is being merged away, and the baseball team will go with it. Kent Stock gives up his job and puts his wedding plans aside to take over as head coach. He has to convince the players and then himself that they can finish this last season as winners. David Mickey Evans's 2007 film comes from a true story; Norway High's baseball tradition ended in the summer of 1991 on a note that was both triumphant and sad. It is about what small-town sport means to a place: not the trophy, but the belonging that disappears when the school does. Sean Astin plays Kent Stock.
