What The Finishers Is About
Julien, seventeen, uses a wheelchair because of cerebral palsy. His family love him and are nonetheless coming apart under the weight of his care, and there is an unspoken distance between him and his father. Julien makes his father an offer: that they enter the Ironman race in Nice together. The man competed there years ago, and now he will do it again pulling, pushing and carrying his son. Nils Tavernier refuses to use disability as an occasion for pity and builds the film around two people learning to look at each other again. Jacques Gamblin plays the father.
