What The Foundling Is About
Directed by Tatyana Lukashevich, this Soviet comedy is counted among the first family films made there. A small girl wanders out of her home, gets lost in Moscow, and crosses the city leaving everyone she meets in some kind of unintended difficulty. She will get home, of course, but at least one man's life will not go back to what it was. Agniya Barto and Rina Zelyonaya wrote the script together, and Zelyonaya also appears in the film. Faina Ranevskaya's part here left behind one of the lines Soviet audiences could quote by heart. It was finished in 1939 and released in January 1940, and a colourised version was made in 2010.
