The Fourth Man

A man wakes from a two-month coma remembering nothing. He was shot in the head at close range. They tell him who he is: a major in military intelligence, with a wife and a son, both of them killed. Then someone else arrives and says he knows who killed his family. The man agrees to enter the game that has been set up for him. Dejan Zečević's Serbian film places the figure of the man who has lost his identity inside postwar Serbia. The question of who the man with no memory is runs into the question of what the country will do with its recent past. Nikola Kojo takes the lead. The telling moves like a thriller, but what it is really about is where the guilt has settled and who has chosen to forget.
