What The Enemy Is About
A few days after the war ends, a group of Serbian soldiers clearing mines finds a man walled into the basement of an abandoned factory. He says he is one of theirs; he does not feel the cold, he is not hungry, and all he asks for is cigarettes. From the moment they take him with them, people start disappearing and the group starts turning on itself. Dejan Zecevic's 2011 film ties a war drama to a horror film and does it not as a trick but as a question: what is left inside people once a war is over? Who the man in the basement is stays open to the end, and that indecision is exactly where the film's force sits.
