What The Gambler Is About
Vincentas is a paramedic who works on an ambulance. He also gambles, and his debts have grown. To clear them he takes a hard decision. What comes to him is to set up an illegal game built on his own profession. The game comes straight out of the work he does. The arrangement grows quickly and gets out of hand. What is at stake is no longer only money; love, life and death are on the table too. The film builds it as a thriller. It leaves the moral question with the viewer. Vytautas Kaniušonis and Oona Mekas take the leads in Ignas Jonynas’s Latvian and Lithuanian coproduction of 2013.
