What The Happiest Man in the World Is About
In Sarajevo, forty-five-year-old Asja goes to a matchmaking event and is paired with Zoran, a banker. But Zoran has not come looking for a partner; in 1993 he was one of the men firing on the city from the other side, and he wants to find the first person he shot and ask her forgiveness. After that encounter the film stays inside a day-long event and watches two people forced to live the same pain again. Teona Strugar Mitevska neither explains the war nor offers forgiveness as a solution; she leaves open the question of whose right it is to forgive. Jelena Kordić and Adnan Omerović lead. A co-production between North Macedonia, Denmark, Belgium, Bosnia, Croatia and Slovenia, it played in Horizons at Venice in 2022.
