The Heathens of Kummerow

Kummerow is a village in the north east of Germany. The year is around 1900. There is a miller in the village called Düker. Düker is sour and vengeful. He wants to drive the cowherd Krischan out of the village. Krischan is well liked by the children. Martin and Johannes are on his side. So are their friends. The children play tricks on the miller. The point is to spoil his plan. One prank follows another. Village life is told through those jokes. It is put together as a comedy. Paul Dahlke, Ralf Wolter and Jörg Resler appear in the ninety four minute film, a German production Werner Jacobs finished in 1967.
