What The Holy Boy Is About
An Italian horror film. A man posted as a PE teacher to an isolated mountain village notices that the people there live in a strange calm. The reason is a rite performed once a week: a boy who lives alone in the village takes the pain of whoever he embraces and carries it himself. When the teacher tries to get the child out of the arrangement, his own darkness comes out too. Strippoli builds the fear not on jump scares but by making the calm itself uncanny. There is violence and there are disturbing scenes.
