What The Honey Pot Is About
Cecil Fox, a millionaire living in Venice, puts out word that he is dying and summons three former lovers to his side. The point is simple: he wants to see which of them cares and which is only waiting on the will. He hires an actor to help him stage it. The performance does not go to plan, a murder gets into it, and the comedy turns into an investigation. Joseph L. Mankiewicz built the screenplay out of three sources at once: Ben Jonson's Volpone, a novel by Thomas Sterling and a play by Frederick Knott. If you like Mankiewicz for the talk, watch it for the talk rather than the plot. Rex Harrison, Susan Hayward, Cliff Robertson, Capucine and Maggie Smith star.
